Student Housing

Ashesi University provides housing options as part of the university's efforts to enhance the educational experience of its students. By increasing opportunities for teamwork, enabling closer friendships and serving as a microcosm of a well-ordered community, dormitory life serves as an important venue for each student's personal growth.

To provide a positive living experience for Ashesi students, the university operates four hostels and provides information of other housing options for students who wish to live non- Ashesi housing. Ashesi has four hostels housing over 150 students. Two of the hostels are co-ed and two are single sex. All four hostels namely Danquah, La, Nyaniba and Labone Annex are all within a 5-10minute drive from the campus. For convenience and safety, a shuttle service operates in the morning and in the evening conveying students from the hostels to campus. The hostels are spacious apartments that provide students with a large dining area, a kitchen, clean bathrooms and a living area where students interact and work on projects or just   hang out. Students participate in a yearly lottery for room allocation.

To help create a well-ordered community in each apartment, representatives are nominated by the Welfare Committee and the Office of Dean of Students to serve as liaisons between the students and the administration.   The Apartment Representatives serve to promote a friendly atmosphere of social interaction and create an environment that is conducive to academic study

Ashesi housing is managed by Ashesi staff caretaker who resides at the Danquah hostel and pays regular visits to all the other hostels.  Each hostel has janitorial services, a security guard and is equipped with a security alarm system and rapid emergency response services. A generator or a battery invertor is available when the power is out and water tanks to ensure there is a steady supply of water at all times. The Operations Department and the Dean of Students Office ensure all the hostels run efficiently.
