Febuary 2-3, Nairobi, Kenya – Ashesi alumna Regina Honu ’05 was a headline speaker at Microsoft’s NexTech Africa, a 2-day meeting designed to connect technology leaders from Microsoft and across Africa.

CEO of Soronko Solutions, Regina discussed her latest social initiative, Soronko Academy. The first coding and human centered design school in West Africa, the Academy is working to empower individuals to lead and innovate by learning to create technology and be economically independent.

In this video interview, Regina shares her aims for the Academy’s impact. “We’re going to have the next Mark Zuckerberg or Bill Gates coming from [our] academy, and you know it’s going to be a 12-year-old Ghanaian girl or boy. It’s all about making sure that we give young people the skills that will enable them to thrive in today’s markets and industries where technical skills are necessary.”
