Partners play a crucial role in Ashesi’s work and mission, and include universities, corporations, foundations, and non-profits that believe in the vision of a flourishing Africa. Through collaboration, we are able to enrol students of all backgrounds from across the continent, enhance the academic programs we provide them, and support research that enables innovation and context-driven teaching.

The Africa-America Institute bridges Africa and its diaspora to catalyze a more sustainable and equitable world. It believes that accurate, unbiased, and accessible education will advance racial justice-eliminating racist norms, assumptions, and frameworks. Over For nearly ten years, Africa-American Institute has supported scholarships for Ashesi students.
The Allan and Gill Gray Foundation provides targeted support for organisations working towards human dignity, equitable opportunity, and the public good.
The Foundation’s partnership with Ashesi focuses on strengthening our entrepreneurship ecosystem, enabling the Centre for Entrepreneurship to provide resources to student and alumni startups, improve curriculum, and support faculty fellowships.

The Arthur Waser Foundation’s strategies in the education sector are inspired by Maria Montessori’s conviction that children and young people who are granted the right to free expression and development have the ability to change societies in a sustainable and positive ways.
The Foundation supports Ashesi and ETH Zürich’s joint master’s in mechatronic engineering program.
Cartier Philanthropies is committed to improving the lives of vulnerable communities across the world, with a particular focus on women and children. Our partnership focuses on enabling scholarships for African women to pursue education at Ashesi, especially in Engineering and Computer Science.
The Children Count Foundation is a private foundation based in Seattle, WA. Established in 1997, its mission is to provide resources for charitable causes and medical research, primarily funding education, public radio, human rights, and cultural performances. Children Count Foundation was one of Ashesi’s earliest donors, helping to set up the communication and IT infrastructure at Ashesi’s first campus – and has continued to support Ashesi through its development.
The Coca-Cola Foundation’s mission is to make a difference in communities around the world by investing in transformative ideas and institutions that address some of our most pressing global challenges. The Foundation’s partnership with Ashesi enables students to conduct service learning and social impact projects especially in communities surrounding Ashesi’s campus.
The Cystal Springs Foundation supports highly effective organizations, through grants and Program Related Investments, that impact the lives of poor and needy. Through Ashesi’s former board member, Mike Murry in partnership with Crystal Springs Foundation, they supported Ashesi during its startup, and continued to support the University through key initiatives and scholarship support during its early years.
ELMA aims to improve the lives of children and their families, with a primary focus in Africa. Through its Growth Foundation, ELMA provided support for Ashesi’s most critical operating needs, and also helped deepen alumni engagement and giving.

GIZ’s long-term goal is to shape a sustainable future worth living for all around the world. Our partnership, led by the Ghana Climate Innovation Centre at Ashesi, focuses on an initiative that provides business incubation, acceleration programmes, and grant financing for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Ghana to bolster their operations and improve their climate adaptation practices.
Global Affairs Canada defines, shape and advances Canada’s interests and values in the world through diplomatic relations, and international trade. Our partnership, through the Ghana Climate Innovation Centre at Ashesi, focuses on supporting Ghana’s green economy and entrepreneurship.
The partnership contributes to strengthening Ghana’s ability to respond to the economic and social impacts of climate change by supporting small and medium-scale entrepreneurs to develop profitable and locally-appropriate solutions to mitigate or adapt to climate change.

The Hopper-Dean Foundation, founded by Heidi Hopper and Jeff Dean, a leading figure in artificial intelligence at Google, is committed to enhancing diversity and inclusion in STEM education, particularly in computer science and engineering. The Foundation has been a significant supporter of Engineering and Computer Science at Ashesi, helping fund our Bioengineering lab, and supporting Professorial Chairs in the Computer Science department.
The IFC, a member of the World Bank Group, fosters sustainable economic growth in developing countries by supporting private sector development, mobilizing private capital, and providing advisory and risk mitigation services to businesses and governments. The IFC has provided two rounds of debt financing for infrastructure growth at Ashesi – covering student housing, research and learning infrastructure.

The Jim Ovia Foundation’s goal is to invest in Nigerian youths’ unlimited and untapped potential as the key to socio-economic growth and efficiency. The Jim Ovia Leaders Scholarship at Ashesi was a partnership between the Jim Ovia Foundation and the Africa-America Institute to educate young Africans – half being Nigerian – to lead the continent.
The John P. & Anne Welsh McNulty Foundation’s mission is to inspire, develop and drive leaders to solve the most critical challenges of our time. They recognize the central role individual leadership plays in effecting change and enabling people to take control of their future and reach their potential. The foundation’s partnership spans across multiple initiatives from the Engineering program, new buildings-including student housing, scholarships, and other key areas of Ashesi’s strategic plan.

The Kofi Tawiah Foundation for Good Citizenship believes that Ghana and Africa’s problems can be solved by inspired, ethical, and enlightened young and future generations of Ghanaians or Africans. As a result, its goal is to invest in education that engenders an evolutionary and generational change in cultural and societal conduct. The foundation has provided scholarships at Ashesi and established an endowed scholarship that will enable Ashesi students to receive a quality education in perpetuity.

The Mastercard Foundation advances education and financial inclusion to catalyse prosperity in developing countries and to support Indigenous youth in Canada. In Africa, the Foundation enables opportunities and partnerships for young people to move themselves, their families, and their communities out of poverty. The Foundation’s partnership with Ashesi spans significant initiatives in scholarship access, entrepreneurship and job creation, e-learning and online instruction, improving healthcare delivery and access in Africa, and collaboration with other African universities.
The Natembea Foundation focuses on education and conflict avoidance, primarily in the Middle East and Africa. Since 2010, this foundation has been an integral partner in expanding Ashesi’s campus, including constructing the Natembea Health Center in 2016 and a student dormitory cluster in 2020.
The Sophie Stenbeck Family Foundation seeks to reshape today’s global challenges by identifying, funding, and advocating for breakthrough solutions, ideas, and innovative grass roots initiatives across the globe. Its mission is to foster justice and opportunity for women and children by strengthening entrepreneurial initiatives that protects the most vulnerable and disadvantaged groups. The Foundation has established an endowed scholarship that enables students to receive an Ashesi education in perpetuity.
Tullow Oil is a leading independent oil and gas exploration and production company. The Group has interests in 90 exploration and production licences across 16 countries which are managed as three Business Delivery Teams: West Africa, East Africa and New Ventures. The firm partnered with Ashesi to provide scholarships for students studying Engineering.
The goal of the USAID American Schools and Hospital Abroad (ASHA) program is to strengthen self-sustaining schools, libraries and medical centers outside the US that share ideas and values similar to that of America. ASHA’s partnership has supported Ashesi’s campus and infrastructure expansion – including student housing and equipment to support the growth of enrolment and academic programs.

Vitol Foundation works with local and international charities and NGOs, social enterprises, national governments, public institutions, and other local and international partners to channel private capital that will improve and strengthen existing in-country systems to create lasting and sustainable change. Their partnership enabled Ashesi to break ground on its Engineering Building thereby supporting the growth of our Engineering program.
The William D Radichel Foundation is a private foundation in Mankato, MN that mainly funds community and education initiatives. During Ashesi’s earlier years, this foundation supported Ashesi’s general operations, campus expansion efforts, and scholarships.
The World Bank Group works in every major area of development. They provide a wide array of financial products and technical assistance, and help countries share and apply innovative knowledge and solutions to the challenges they face. The World Bank Group -working with the Danish and Dutch government – funded the launch of the Ghana Climate Innovation Center at Ashesi.
